What are the fashion trends for the fall winter 2018-2019?
Tuesday 18 September 2018
Hi there, I hope you had a nice Summer! I am back after a little August break with a topic that I am sure, will raise your interest: what will we wear for the Fall Winter 2018-2019 season?
Even though the temperatures are still warm, and we might not be quite ready for it, it is time to prepare our Winter wardrobe. Quick sum up: this season’s trends are in line with last Winter’s, but more colorful, dynamic and creative. A few examples? We will still wear tones of check print, but we will also embrace the “scarf” print, with vibrant and cheerful colors. The puffer jacket remains THE coat of the Winter, and we will swap our ankle boots for cowboy boots.
Nothing speaks better than images, so check out my 10 favorite fashion trends below!
COLORFUL CHECKS
Don’t worry, checks are still THE print to wear this season, but in cheerful, vibrant colors. This season, we dare to mix checks with different colors and sizes.

Michael Kors, Burberry, Versace
SIXTIES REVIVAL
2018 was all about bringing back the 90’s style, however this season marks the revival of another decade: the sixties, with feminine silhouettes inspired by Twiggy’s looks.

Miu Miu, Dior, APC
THE PUFFER JACKET
It has been 2 years already that we are proudly wearing our puffer jackets outside of the ski slopes. This season again, we will cozy up in these oversize, preferably colorful coats, praying the God of fashion to make this « comfortwear » trend last forever.

Alexander McQueen, Emilio Pucci, Sacai
THE COWGIRL LOOK
When fashion conquers the West!
Some designers such as Dior, Armani or Isabel Marant take their inspiration from the Western movies in their new collection: cowboy boots are all the rage (we will talk about it later), as well as leather fringed pieces or handwoven belted capes.

Dior, Alberta Ferreti, Isabel Marant
THE SCARF PRINT
A new trend (slightly kitsch, but we still love it!) that will ravish those who love to wear multiple colors! The scarf print is having a moment : you can choose a floral, bandana or arty print to bring fun to your outfits.

Marine Serre, Versace, Richard Queen
SHEARLING COATS
Another major trend of the Winter: shearling coats. My favorite pieces are in natural, sandy colors to bring a chic twist to the look.

Chloé, Dior, Tod’s
LAYERING
In case you don’t know it, layering is the art of wearing several layers (duh) and still look stylish. Of course, we are not talking about putting a coat over a sweater…layering requires way more styling skills and the ability to play with volumes.
A few examples: wear a short puffer jackets over a long coat, or a long dress over jeans.
One easy way to layer your clothes and look stylish: copy the Chanel models and wear a hoodie under a blazer or a leather jacket.

Lemaire, Balenciaga, Prada
LEOPARD PRINT
I could not NOT talk about the avalanche of leopard print this season! Even though the animal print has been recurrent in the past years, it is having a major moment this Fall. Wear it on skirts, pants, or even on a suit!

Victoria Beckham, Gareth Pugh, Tom Ford
ORIGINAL HEELS
Jacquemus initiated the trend: designers get creative when it comes to our heels. Our shoes now come with asymetric, geometric-shaped heels, to become real pieces of art.

Jacquemus, Prabal Gurung, Mulberry
COWBOY BOOTS
Like I said before, the « Western » trend is all the rage, bringing to the forefront scene cowboy boots, as seen on Armani, Isabel Marant or Dior runways. The more authentic they look, like you shopped them in a vintage store in Texas, the better.

Armani, Derek Lam, Isabel Marant
