One of my favorite things as a Personal Shopper is to introduce new designers to my customers. I am convinced that sometimes, we struggle to find our style because we did not find THE brand that suits us the best. And even if I am a big fan of Zara or H&M, let’s face it : the mass-market cuts are too standardized, which is why it can’t fit everybody, and the quality of the fabrics…well let’s say that it’s not their strenght. I recommend mass-markets brands to my customers to buy the IT-piece of the moment, the one that you will wear 2 months and then never EVER, but when it comes to nice cuts and quality fabrics, I trust designers such as Nathalie Dumeix.

Remember, I mentionned Nathalie in this post about Rouje, the label of the French IT-Girl Jeanne Damas. Nathalie and Jeanne have been working together for a long time : first, they created several capsule collections for Nathalie Dumeix, and now Nathalie, in addition to her brand, is working on Jeanne’s side for Rouje.

I met Nathalie in her Parisian boutique, located in the very Parisian (understand trendy but not too touristy) 12th district of the city. We talked about her brand, her inspirations, her desires. Nathalie launched her label 14 years ago. Little by little she conquered the Parisian women by reinventing basics of the wardrobe, with a minimal-seventies twist. Today, Nathalie Dumeix is a confidential and intimist label, the kind of name that edgy Parisian girls whisper to each other when they want to share their fashion tips. Nathalie designs and produces small collections because she wants to remain a « Slow Fashion » brand, to contrast with the « Fast-Fashion » companies that produce new collections with a poor quality every week.

Go to Nathalie Dumeix for her ultra-chic knits (in cashmere, wool, or silk) with impeccable cuts : everyone needs an oversized cardigan that will reveal the shoulder, a tight pullover with a Birkin-esque inspiration, or a casual deep V cashmere sweater that you can wear a thousand different ways.

Another statement piece of her collection (that really caught my eye) is the seventies high-waisted flared pants…a MUST-HAVE that flatter your body, elevate and shape your butt, and lengthen your legs ! The vintage and Seventies addicts will also fall for her velvet overalls !
