Bag Trend: The come back of the belt bag in 2018

The 90’s have been back in style for a few seasons, and this Summer you can’t miss the revival of the fanny pack. Yes, you heard me, this little pouch that you zip around your waist, practical but not that aesthetic, is having a moment. We spotted it on Gucci, Prada and Chloe’s runway, and the trend quickly spread to the streets since.

There’s one rational and simple explanation to this phenomenon: current designers have adapted to the current trends to offer a more refined take on the classic fanny pack. They even marketed it under a more sophisticated name: the belt bag.

You can now find various iterations in the fabric used (leather, velvet), the colors or the details (with studs, fringes…).

The 2018 belt bag can also be worn in different ways! My favorite way to wear it is to belt it on a blazer, to highlight the waist and define the silhouette. You can also wear it across your body for an edgy look.
